Mental Health Sector Profile - Pact Southland
PACT Southland delivers a broad range of community based services. The services are based in Invercargill and are a district wide contract. PACT services include the following:
PACT Youth South:
Support services delivered to young people aged 0-17 affected by a mental health problem. PACT Youth South provides short-term residential services (5 beds), day programmes, crisis respite care (1 bed), community support and family/whanau support. Young people are eligible for the service after referral from the SDHB CAFS team.
Community Support:
PACT delivers a number of services to adults living in the community aged 18 and over. Eligibility for these services is via a health professional or the SDHB Mental Health Needs Assessment Service. They provide the following services:
- Community Support Services: Provided in peoples homes or from community centres. Assist people in developing life skills and improving social networks.
- Supported Landlord Service: Consumers who are able to live independently are provided with additional landlord support.
Supported Accommodation:
Supported accommodation is for people aged 18 and over who are recovering from a mental illness and who are unable to live on their own. Eligibility for these services requires a referral from a health professional or the SDHB Mental Health Needs Assessment Service. PACT provides the following range of services:
- Residential Support (Level 3): Level three accommodation provides support and supervision to clients between the hours of 8am and 12pm (awake staff) and 12pm to 8am (asleep staff), seven days a week. Four beds are available in one house.
- Residential Support (Level 4): Level four accommodation provides support and supervision to clients for twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. Twelve beds are available across two houses.
- PACT Youth South: Short-term residential services are available to young people aged 0-17 and provide 24/7 supervision. Six beds are available in one house.
- Respite Services: Support provided to consumers who live independently but who need temporary relief from caring for themselves. Planned and emergency accommodation is available. Two respite beds are available for adults and one for Maori adults.
