Mental Health Sector Profile - Service Users
It goes without saying that consumers are an integral part of the Mental Health sector. As well as delivering quality services, the primary and secondary sectors have a responsibility to ensure that consumers are involved in the planning, development and delivery of mental health services in the District.
The SDHB does this through the employment of Consumer Advisors and by supporting the activities of other local consumer led forums and groups. Consumer representation is also a priority for the Southland Mental Health Network.
The SDHB also supports consumers by contracting with consumer led providers who deliver education, advocacy and support programmes and services to consumers and their families.
